A Macomb County judge has allowed a teen sentenced to four days in a youth home to come home after only serving one day of the sentence.
14-year-old Jacob Mastrogiovanni of Warren refused to acknowledge a court-ordered visitation to see his father, Victor. The boy's custody is shared between Victor Mastrogiovanni and his mother, Dawn Platevoet.

I saw this article a few days ago and meant to post it then while it was still on CNN. Apparently, the story has downgraded in importance since then.
I feel for the kid. After being a member of this site for about 8 years now, I know there can be a lot of reasons why a teenager might not want to visit his father. However, for a judge not to respect a person's feelings this way and throw them in jail for such a minor thing is scary.
I found many articles looking for this one on 14 year olds who committed serious crimes like rape and murder. I can't imagine, well, I can imagine, but not think very well of a father who would push for this and go along with this just because the kid didn't want to see him. I am sure a lot of people may say the mom bad mouthed the dad, but she didn't need to. The guy had his own son thrown in jail not for committing a crime or doing something terrible, just because the kid didn't want to see him. Now the kid has a new reason not to want to see his dad.
This dad is very short sighted. In four years, this kid will be 18 and no court in the land will force him to spend time with his father. It would seem more prudent to stand by, always making himself available, and wait for the kid to come around. Now, he may never come around.
It was mom who pushed to get this guy out of jail not his dad. So I am guessing the dad was fine with his son being in jail for this stupid reason.
Poor kid. At least he has his mom.
