WASHINGTON – The Secret Service may pursue a criminal investigation of the Virginia couple who crashed a White House dinner, but events at the security checkpoint may determine whether the security breach is a crime or just an embarrassment.

I have yet to figure out what the big deal is here. The White House Staff and Secret Service made a major boo boo, but why are these people the bad guys? They are obviously rich and part of the DC jet set. They look like they belong. Sure, they really pulled on over on the WH, but they didn't hurt anyone or even intend to hurt anyone. It seems like no harm no foul.

If someone is going to get into major trouble over this, it should be the people who let the crashers in. The staff and SS should expect people will try to crash WH events and plan accordingly. Next time, it probably won't be just a couple of glory seekers.

It is so like the media to focus heavily on such a trivial thing. Not trivial to the Secret Service and the White House Staff, but on the scope of things going on in the world, this is very minor thing.

On another point, what people won't do to get on tv?! At least this was a harmless stunt. Last month's trick with the little boy in the attic, well, that was not so benign. I hope CPS checks into that family, because the kids and mom seem to be scared of dad and that is not good. I am glad that jerk didn't make it onto tv other than as a bad example.

What Hollywood won't do to avoid paying actors and writers! They should charge these production companies, too, for putting people up to this stuff. Of course, people should have better sense, but I don't see that happening. Good luck to the party crashers! They seem like a fun couple. More fun than the balloon boy family at any rate.

The Secret Service is to blame for this. As far as I know, crashing a party (even at the White House) is not illegal.
