Drew was cleaning my car (trying to earn back his cell phone). Rick and I were running errands. I have had him back up and pull into the car port dozens of times. So, I felt pretty comfortable leaving him with my car keys since I was only going to be gone an hour. MISTAKE!
He was playing around (my best guess) when he pulled the car under the car port. Either the brake didn't catch when he set it (he swears it clicked but its' working fine) or he didn't get it all the way into park. Either way, he got out of the car and it started rolling backwards - at an angle - towards the corner of our brick house. Luckily, there is a HUGE ugly a$$ bush there. It stopped the car from hitting the house, but not before putting 2 small dents in the frame around the tire well, totally screwing up the drivers door and front panel paint and taking the driver's side mirror completely off the car. It's drivable, but I have to roll the window up and down and put the mirror in the car when I'm driving (its blocking the vent and door handle) and then put it out again when I leave (you can't open door unless it is outside. Funny part? The mirror adjustments are electric and the stupid thing is still working!
Drew was hysterical when he called me. As soon as I found out he was ok, I didn't really care about the car. I couldn't tell the ins co he had parked it (he's not on the ins and no permit till next month), so we said I did it. Because it was "unattended", the deductible is $500 instead of the $250 we thought it would be. Taking it to the adjuster on Monday, but the ins co will hold the claim until we get our taxes in. (They'll hold it up to 1 year). By the time we get my teeth, buy Drew's Zune, and fix the car, there is not going to be enough left for me to go see my parents as planned. Chalk one up for teenaged drivers! Had to happen eventually, I guess. And better my car than Rick's since mine is paid for and he HAS to have his for work.
Gotta say, not liking Christmas much this year!

That sucks. I'm glad no one was hurt.
