RIO DE JANEIRO – A Brazilian family delivered a 9-year-old boy to his American father in Brazil on Thursday, ending a five-year custody battle.

This family has a hard road ahead, but I am glad this boy is finally coming home with his dad. I have wondered if this is some South American way of trying to punish our country over that Ellean over 10 years ago. I thought that Ellean should have been returned to his father immediately, too.

I think this kind of thing is a no win situation. I think it's horrible for his father that he was taken all those years ago and I think it's horrible for the 9 yr old boy to have to leave the home and the family he has known all his life. It's incredibly sad.

I think the Brazillian family has pretty much guarenteed the father will not be taking the boy down for a visit for a very long time. I know I wouldn't. This could have been a lot easier on the boy, if was handled better. I am happy for his father and his american family. I can't imagine the pain that poor man has been through.
