This is proving amzingly difficult

I have been dieting for the last couple of weeks and have not lost anything. I have barely been able to eat in the last month, so I figured that would help. I am on a gluten free, low fat diet which I am hoping will correct a health problem and help me loose weight. Who all is starting the new year with a diet? Can we work together on this? It is discouraging doing this alone.

BTW, the health problem is getting better, so that part is working.

Re: This is proving amzingly difficult

I hope it gets easier for you Lenora. I know how hard it is to lose weight.
I too, will be trying to lose weight. I have 20lbs to go. I have joined the Y with the family and we rarely go. I need to make better food choices too but mostly I grab what is convienant since it seems I have little time to actually make a meal.
I would be more then willing to track our losses together and give support.
Good luck Lenora!

Thanks Krista. I have tried and failed to loose weight so many times, it's hard to work up much optimism for the project.

Re: This is proving amzingly difficult

I'm with you... I have regained 10 lbs since coming stateside (all in the first two months too so back in the summer). It's not a huge deal and I'm not gaining anymore but either I need to lose the 10lbs or buy new clothes so I would rather lose the 10.
I signed up for the Spark People boot camp that starts on Sunday. They give you workouts and such.

Let me know... we are getting back on the diet too. We lost some with the South Beach Diet, so we are going to probably get back to that. I got the new Wii Fit disc, so hopefully that will help spark more interest in working out.

Re: This is proving amzingly difficult

Since I have healed from the surgery, I have gone back up to 150-155. Not too much, but I want to get back down to 140 or so. The problem is that my diet is so darned limited since the surgery and having my gall bladder out. Makes it almost impossible to eat a really healthy diet. *sigh* Can't wait to get my dentures so I can eat vegetables again that aren't complete and total mush!

Re: This is proving amzingly difficult

Glad your health problem is getting better. Maybe we should start a daily food and exercise thread for motivation.

I'm dieting because of my blood pressure. I still have high blood pressure from having Halleigh. It has come down from an average of 150/102 to 114/83. If I get stressed it goes a little higher. I was able to cut my meds in half, but I still need the 100mg twice a day. This is the longest it's stuck around after delivery. My regular doctor gave me a prescription for a new med that I don't really want to take. I'm aggressively approaching my weight instead to see if that helps. I think I wont need the medication if I just lose the weight. I'm on a strict low sodium, low fat diet.

So far I've lost 4 pounds since last week. I'm using a meal replacement from GNC...

GNC Lean Shake™ - Chocolate - GNC - GNC

It tastes bad but it does help me not get hungry. I use that for breakfast and lunch and then eat a reasonable dinner. I also have fruit between meals if I feel hungry.

Re: This is proving amzingly difficult

Have you tried almonds, tara? My mil, dh, dad's wife and I all lowered our blood pressure by eating a handful of almonds everyday. It sounds odd, but it really did work for all of us. We were all on bp meds and now none of us are. Dh's mom discovered this one.

Interesting. I will definitely give it a try. Thanks.
