The United States is one of the few countries that asks questions about race and ethnicity in its Census, even using the word Negro. Is it wrong to ask such things?

I dislike the word "negro", however, I can see reasons why the government would like to trace the well being of it's citizens and race has been a factor in quality of life in the past. I think it should be voluntary though.

Well, should it say "people of "color"?
Not sure.
When I went to school, NS mind you, kind of discrimatory there, btw, we called them "black".
I don't like either N word, even though it was quite common back when.
I prefer saying, "black" if I have to.
To me, no difference, in color back or white.

I agree with what you are saying, but if one group is falling behind, that is good to know in case policy could be formed to help them out. However, we do seem to pretty much know this anyway.

People are people to me, I don't care the color at all.
If they are nice, honest and law abiding, it doesn't matter. To me anyway.
