I need a new vacuum cleaner

What type do you have and why do you like it? What don't you like about it?

I've been looking at the Bissel Cleanview Helix deluxe and thought it was what I was going to get when a friend said she has hated all her Bissels.

Re: I need a new vacuum cleaner

I have the bagless Bissel from WM that is around $85 or so and I really like it. I use it to clean houses and it has NEVER clogged on me and I clean houses that have a crapload of dog hair. It also has washable filters that I really love. My favorite part is the attachments right on board. Now, if I could buy any vacuum (if money wasn't an issue) I would buy either a Kenmore Elite that has the pull behind canaster (two of my clients have them and I use them weekly) or a Dyson.

Re: I need a new vacuum cleaner

I have a Bissell Powerforce. It was cheap at $40. It works pretty well, it was cheap and it is the only vacuum I have had last more than a year. I had a dust Devil and the motor froze up rendering it useless in about 2 months. It was a lot more expensive. the Powerforce is not bagless and I think the head is a bit narrow, but it is dependable. I would love an Oreck or one of those restaurant grade vacuum cleaners, but I can't afford those. If you are looking for cheap and dependable, the Powerforce is a good choice.

Re: I need a new vacuum cleaner

I had a Filter Queen pull behind canister model for about 17 years same one never died! Had to replace it several years ago and purchased a vacuum from Sears not sure model. I can tell yout this regardless of what you choose: Power, suction and light weight are most important. Mine weighs a ton and can't lift it and hardly push it to save my life. The suction is for crap and I paid about 80.00 for it....
