Best Brands for Skinny Kids?

I have an incredibly petite (almost) 4 year old and have a really hard time finding clothes that fit her well. She is roughly 30lbs and 37 inches in height which is less than the 25th percentile for her age.
She can't wear Gymboree ... the 3's fall off of her and the 2's show her belly (and have way too much diaper room).
I want to find clothes that fit and fit well ... especially jeans ... no short or long legs and no big baggy butt because the size is intended for a child that wears a diaper.
So far Baby Gap is the best fit that I've found, but it's so expensive.
Anyone else have the same issue with their child?

Re: Best Brands for Skinny Kids?

I had this issue growing up and even into my teens back then there's wasn't a lot of options.

Jaedyn has this issue as well, she's 3 1/2 and some size 3's are to big in the waist and 2's just like you said are saggy in the crotch and butt as well as too short!

Target Circo brand as well as the Osh Kosh fit very well. I also found a pair of Osh Kosh at Kohls's that fit very well. The other problem I have is she has long arms and needs more length but not to big in the shoulder area.

I use stretch pants and babydoll tops a lot at least 3-4 times a week. Hanes jogging pants is another as she only has 2 pair of jeans because of this problem. I purchased a pair of calf boots to wear with the stretch leggings and such so that her legs stay warm and dry.

The best time of year for us is spring and summer for cropped pants, capri's and shorts!

I have a hard time with Payton as well. She is super tall with loooong legs and only weighs 39lbs at age 6. Now that she has grown a bit more it has gotten easier. I buy her the Limited Too slim fit jeans with the adjustable waist and they seem to fit well. Before now I just kept her in a lot of leggings and even those were baggy on her.
Check ebay for more gap jeans if you need to Elaine. I betcha there are some there for a reasonable price.

I have the same problem with Ally and it never seems to get any better. I HAVE to get adjustable waist pants or they simply fall right off of her. She wears alot of leggings in warmer weather. Right now we are steadily rotating her 4 pr of jeans because of the cold. Trying to find tops is a nightmare, too. She has long legs AND and long torso.

Standard sizing should go by waist in inches as well as inseam. We would'nt have this issue if we had a little more variety in sizing for children and adults.

Re: Best Brands for Skinny Kids?

I agree Karen ... why can't all pants be sized like men's?

Just out of curiosity, I started looking around at different brand's sizing charts and Brenna either falls into the very low end of 3T or more often the high end of 2T in weight and then the very high end of 3T or even low end of 4T in height. Very rarely did Brenna's height and weight fall into the same size and when they did, it was on opposite ends of the chart.
The two worst were Old Navy & Gymboree which each said that her weight could fit an 18 - 24 month but that her height was a 3T.
