Afghanistan War Vet Faces Jail Time for Taking Daughter to Church in Violation of Court Order

A veteran of the war in Afghanistan could find out today if he'll get jail time for taking his daughter to church in defiance of a Chicago family court order obtained by his estranged wife.

Father defies court order and takes his daughter to church. The two are in a bitter divorce battle, and the question of what faith their child should be raised in is pushing the boundaries of child custody arrangements.

OK, I can understand his wanting to xpoe his child to his faith, but this looks like he did it just to flaunt it in his ex's face - and against a court ruling. What do ya'll think?

I agree. This seems to have more to do with stabbing the wife in the back than true religious belief. If it was just over faith, why did he need to bring up his law degree or bring the media with him to church? At the very least, it was inconsiderate to the other worshipers having the media there. Some people actually go to mass to have a relgious experience which I don't see happening with cameras and lights.

I agree with you ladies. Also, if his faith was so important to him, why did he convert to Judaism ... his reasoning was that he wouldn't be accepted by his inlaws otherwise. I honestly don't think that is the action of a man who's faith is so important to him that he would defy a court order.

Glad it wasn't just me. I'm all for taking your kids to church if that's what you want, but not this way.

She was being raised with faith, just not the one he wants at the moment. According to the Jewish faith, children should be raised in the faith of their mother. I believe Islam is the same.
