Children and Music

Whether it's playing instruments, singing songs, or listening to the radio and dancing, music can be a great rainy day activity.

What are some ways you share music with your children? What are their favorite songs?

Re: Children and Music

Brenna is my singer ... most evenings we climb in bed together and she'll tell me what songs she wants to sing. Some of her favorites are Jenny Jenkins, The old lady that swallowed a fly, God Gave Rock & Roll to you, and Fireflies. With Jenny Jenkins she likes picking what color we sing next ... we've even made up a few verses ourselves ... the favorite is "No I won't wear purple 'cause purple-wurple-durple". It's hard to come up with something on the spot.

My kids love the Disney dvds with dance segments. Cara's favorite songs are the ABC song, Twinkle, Twinkle little star and I know you from Sleeping Beauty. Kate likes the
Sleeping Beauty song, the theme song from Greatest American hero and my least favorite some song about home and throne from Madagascar 2.

Aaron has a music player with the Cars soundtrack, Mozart, and the Lord of the Rings soundtrack on it. He has been singing The Star-Spangled Banner every day for weeks now.
