Little one will be 2 in may

My little one will be two in May and has never had a sip of formula. Wasn't always the easy thing to do but I just wanted that for her so badly, I made it happen. I hate it when I hear people say it just didn't work out for them. I worked full time and pumped at work using any and all breaks just to get enough milk for my little one. I ate lunch pumping and woke early and went to bed late to make sure she was set on milk. Tough it out moms its the best for your baby!

Congrats!! That is quite an accomplishment!

I breastfed all my babies but each of them started on formula at one point or another.

Re: Little one will be 2 in may

That's great for you and your little one. However, situations vary and some people cannot breastfeed. Sorry that upsets you, but that is reality. I almost died after I had my daughter, so with the medications I had to take to survive, I COULDN'T breastfeed. Please don't be judgemental of others.... "I hate it when I hear people say it just didn't work out for them." I am glad it worked out for you. People are not horrible for using formula... they are just different from you. And that is OK.

Kim, thanks for pointing out that NOT breastfeeding isn't always a choice!

I breastfed my daughter for 13 months, and it was wonderful.
When I had my son, I never had enough milk, and it didn't work out for me. I felt a lot of guilt about it, but as my kids' pediatrician pointed out, I tried my best to make it happen, and it just couldn't.

Re: Little one will be 2 in may

I breastfed each of my daughters over two years and never had to use formula. This is sort of a sensitive topic around here. It might be an idea to check out other aspects of our boards.

Re: Little one will be 2 in may

I think Kim's point is that those of us who could not or did not breastfeed should not be made to feel inferior or made to feel guilty for our choices. It is our choice, and it doesn't make us less as mothers. The tone of her post was such that it came off as very judgmental and sanctimonious. Maybe it wasn't meant that way, but I can tell you that from my years on the boards, that is the way it comes across whenever we debate this topic.

This may be an attempt to inflame and not really someone interested in our boards or making friends. Normally, I wouldn't say this sort of thing out in the open, but I don't figure this person will be back.

You might be right, but I had to get that off my chest. Moms should stick together and not tear each other down over stuff like this.
