In your attempt at budgeting money, you have probably cut back on your daily excursion to Starbucks, eaten out less, and taken the bus or subway to avoid costly cabs. However, your new fiscally responsible lifestyle doesn't have to interfere with your love life. Avoid more tired dinner dates followed by movies. Below are our top 8 picks for budget-friendly dates:

These are fine ideas if you are not married with children. Then the goal is to actually get out of the house and away from your children for a little bit.

Some decent ideas, but I agree with you Lenora ... I want to get OUT of the house when I have a date night. Movie night just isn't relaxing or enjoyable when you are asking kids to stop running in front of the TV or have to pause to wipe butts, get me a drink, clean up a spill, stop a fight, etc.

I do like the idea of watching a movie outside. Wonder if anyone I know has a projector? This could be a great family night idea, too! BBQ, hang out until dark, then a family movie on the side of the house. Maybe a double/triple feature, like all the Indiana Jones or Lion King movies? Gonna have to try this.

But I have to agree, the whole reason we go on dates is to get OUT of the house and AWAY from the kids!

We have a projector ... it's the kids' big thing now to watch movies on their bedroom wall ... I can get them to be good all evening with the promise of a movie at bed time.
Because it's a children's product though and not really high quality, you can't make the movie bigger than about 4 x 5 without losing picture quality.
