Kid dental work

My dd's teeth are coming in crooked. Can they do anything to prevent braces? I don't have dental insurance, how much does kid dental work generally cost?

Re: Kid dental work

we don't have dental insurance either. The kids go to a pediatric dentist.

I don't know if you can prevent braces. We are doing preventive measure with Lyssa. She has a tiny mouth so they are pulling teeth in order to make room for her adult teeth.

I think for a regular check up its around $100.

Re: Kid dental work

with Tessa they put in a spacer before she got her last two grown up teeth on the bottom to give her a little more room in her mouth.

We have the same problem here, Karen. I have scheduled an appointment for her.

Re: Kid dental work

forgot to say I have no idea what it costs... It was done in Germany so our insurance covered it completely, if it had been done stateside we would have had a copay, but I could have given you the amount they billed tricare for.
As disabled vets can't you get the military dental coverage? It's fairly inexpensive and cleanings and such are free. A spacer, fillings etc have copays but they aren't too bad.

Re: Kid dental work

Nope, CHAMPVA doesn't cover eye or dental care.

I left you a message about what happened. This is going to be expensive.

Re: Kid dental work

They can give her a retainer that she only wears at night to help straighten those teeth that are coming in crooked. I had one when one of my froint teeth came in completely sideways. Wore it until the tooth was in, then was done. Have no idea of cost, tho since it was eons ago.

Re: Kid dental work

My orthodontist (I got a new retainer) says that once a child is seven, they will, at no cost, monitor a child to see if they will need braces. They say that if the baby teeth have no spaces between, then they may end up with braces. If there are spaces, then the odds are better that they won't need them. I think that is cool and am going to send my son next year.

Nice dental care is well-deserved by all of us, but it costs a lot of money in US,
It increases your self-confidence and people get attracted towards your pearly smile,
Well-maintained teeth also prevent progress of oral health related problems,
Evidence also exists that bacteria infested teeth and gums lead to a swelling inside the body....

I think my dd will one day end up with braces.  fortunately, I think we have found a dentist who will work with us on a monthly plan when the time comes.
