Do you consider yourself an old school or a new style parent?

Re: Old school or new style parenting

Dh is definitely old school and I am glad, because one of us should be. Seriously, respect is important to me. I don't see these "hover craft" methods of parenting working too well. I am definitely not going with my kids on any job interviews or planning their dang life when they are out of my house. Once they turn 18, their decisions are their own responsibility.

I think that I am a bit of a mix of the two.

Re: Old school or new style parenting

With 6 kids from 2 to 16, definitively old! My husband is like a drill Sargent but you know they really respect us more. We've always been stern but loving with them and we've never had to discipline the older ones pass the age 5 or so. If you set the ways early you won't have trouble with them in the teenage years.
