MARTINSVILLE, Ind. -- Two Martinsville police officers have been suspended after they were accused of using a Taser to subdue a 10-year-old.

I am not condoning with the cops did in any way, but if the kid needs cops to contain their violence, then they need a whole lot more intervention than just the police.

What the kids need is a good spanking (or two) by their parent and regular trips to a counselor.

I have a lot of thoughts with these stories. First, were these cops who are used to dealing with adults and the threat of serious injury every day (even being shot) so scared of a possible kick from a 10 yr. old that they couldn't get close enough to him to restrain him properly?
Second, while I'm not opposed to spanking (by the parent!), I do not condone physical pain as a way to handle an uruly child.
If a parent tased their 10 yr. old to break up a fight between siblings, they would face serious consequences ... so should these officers. And I don't want to hear any crap about how they aren't trained to deal with children and handled the situation to best of their knowledge ...

I agree, Elaine. And if you are calling the cops everyday on your kid, then you need to do more than call the cops! The school system needs to get involved.

TO heck with the school system! If the kid is so beyond your control that you need to call the police, then it is time to start thinking about letting someone else take control. Bootcamp, therapy, boarding school for those with trouble. I'm not saying the parents didn't do their best (maybe they did, maybe they didn't), but in the child's best interest, someone has to take control NOW before they end up in prison! Believe me, Rick and I considered a boarding school/bootcamp for Drew until things started to get better. Sometimes you have to make the hard decisions for the best interest of the kid.
