well....looks like Nathan has asperger's

He started having severe behavior problems in school this year to the point of being put on out of school suspension and going to the principal's office several times. We started going to a psychologist and he now has a TSS with him all day every day in school. His behavior team is working on behavior modification for him and he has good days and bad days, but he's doing better. He doesn't have an official diagnosis of asperger's yet, but the lady that is working on his behavior modification said that she is almost certain that is what it is and that's what i think to.

We are also in the process of having him re-evaluated for gifted. His school work is very easy for him and the principal told us that we could probably have him skip a grade, but he's not there socially. He's just starting to make a couple of friends with the help of his TSS. Although he still doesn't understand the real concept of a friend. He still does a lot of parallel play and avoids eye contact.

Re: well....looks like Nathan has asperger's

thanks girls. I have tons of questions, none of which i can think of right now, other than explaining it to others. Our family doesn't seem to believe that there is anything wrong with him for the most part.

That must be incredibly hard to explain. Your family will be in my thoughts and prayers

That must be extremely difficult for you. Hoping for possitive results with the TSS and behavior modification.

Re: well....looks like Nathan has asperger's

I understand the family aspect as well. My family was in denial as well Jimmy's father. It's only appearent to the parents because we see the difference in our children on a daily basis. From what I have witnessed the spectrum "ticks" are not always present. It's very strange how some days are good and some are bad.

Get this and share it with your entire family! It's free and can be downloaded. It really did help me, personally...

thanks Karen... I will definitely download that and use it. I've noticed that with Nathan too, he has good days, bad days, and days in the middle....
