Re: Law murky for mom who returned adopted Russian boy
Something is very fishy about this story. I can believe the boy is violent. I am wondering where all the records of intervension are if he is. He was only with his adoptive family for about six months. I have not tried to get help from a school district for a special needs child, but it seems like it may take more than six months even to get an evaluation. However, as in my own case, private counseling and therapy is available if somewhat expensive. I think almost all of us with special needs children have paid for a lot of therapy outside what is offered by the school system. When you have a special needs child, you do end up doing and paying for a lot on your own. At least, that is my personal experience.
I don't want to judge this woman, but six months seems like hardly enough time to exhaust all options. I am wondering if she sent him back before the adoption was completed so she wouldn't have to deal with his problems. However, how could she not expect he would have problems after living in an orphanage for seven years? Now, he's been abandoned again. I hope he gets the help he needs in Russia, because he is going to be more of a mess than ever after this. I can't help feel sorry for him even if he is a little psycho which we don't know if he is.
If he was her natural born child, she would be in big trouble now.
