How to discuss puberty

Thread Starter
Ally has been have horrible mood swings and her whole demeanor is changing. It's really upseting her, so we are going to have "the talk" this weekend. We talked about it beforte, but I think it's time for a little more in depth discussion so she can understand what is really going on with her body.

Anyone have a clue the best way to go about it? I didn't have any trouble talking to Drew, but for some reason, having to talk to Ally really has me shaken up.

Sorry I did not see this before. Did the talk go over well? Let me know. I'll need to do the same soon.

Re: How to discuss puberty

When I took Literature for Young Adults, we talked about this subject since it was an education class. I think the book most recommended on this topic is My Body Myself. I'm probably getting this book for my dds in the next few years. There's bound to be something I miss or she is too shy to ask that would be covered in this book. There are other books on the topic, but this is the one that was supposed to be really good.

How did we all miss this? DId it go okay Brenda? Tessa and i used the American Girls Body Book (can't remember the title). We have a talk every year around her birthday, and each year it gets more in depth. She reads her book when she has questions throughout the year and brings them to me. It's about time for us to have our yearly chat, and I think this will be the last one before she starts her period.

Re: How to discuss puberty

Perhaps, starting the discussion using a book can work as well. I have this book already and plan to use it for both my kids!
