Do have to constantly stay on top of your kids

To clean up their messes? Every one of my kids is a slob ... leaving food, toys, clothes, make-up, and junk in their path. It's almost more exhausting asking them/reminding them over and over to clean up than it is to do it myself. I've gotten so fed up that I've tried that route though and it's frustrating to spend all day cleaning just to turn around and have it be a disaster again. *sigh*
How do you get your kids to clean up after themselves?

Chad suggested every time they leave something in the common area of the house, to dump it on their bed ... just so they can feel the full impact of their mess. I tend to think kids are oblivious to mess though and wouldn't mind it too much.

The same goes on in my house. My kids are walking, talking tornadoes. I get sick of constantly nagging them to clean up messes, too.

Don't ask me. My kids are pigs. I swear I didn't raise them that way - they are just lazy. Drew has gotten better (but still not good enough). Ally is horrible about picking up her clothes and toys.

Re: Do have to constantly stay on top of your kids

Well, this is what works for me. I identified quite a few things that my kid loves to have like watching cartoon, going for swimming or playing in water, eat Bourne bourn biscuits etc.

So i make a deal with him that if he cleans up his stuff and keeps his things in their respective places for a complete day, i offer him one of his favorites as a prize. If he doesn't listen to Mommy, then he doesn't get all that. Now this concept of giving away prize for their hardwork is paying well. Now my kid is habituated to cleaning his own stuff, keeping away toys in their place, doing all the things as told.

This is a small trick i learnt from my mother. Why don't you mommies try it out?
