Considering becoming a Consultant

for Scentsy. I am just nervous I won't be able to get the minimum orders or if it is even worth my time doing it. I am hoping to just make enough extra money to pay for my Student Loan payment ($45.00) and extra money to go into savings for bills and such.

Does anyone have any advice on how to get over the anxiety of working at home?

Hey Girle,

I was in the same position myself a year ago when I was deciding weather or not to accept a consultant Job for a Marketing firm.

Working for myself was a daunting prospect, In an office, I have no trouble completing my designated tasks, but at home life always finds a way to interrupt.  I had the opposite view as you, at the beginning I was gung-ho, thinking that I could easily find a way to balance this with the rest of my life, but as time progressed I found myself slipping and clearly I had bitten off more than I could chew. My advice to you is simple: Baby steps. Believe me I know exactly how easy it is to become overwhelmed, it happened to me, I would have my nine to five job, and then just the thought of having to face up to another however many hours in front of a computer screen was simply daunting. I became depressed and shirked my duties for both jobs. But you have to KNOW, that YOU CAN DO IT! I was looking at the macro, that I had to reach my quota of 25 per week and it was already Thursday, then the panic would set in and I would become paralyzed unable to complete even a few. So what I had to do, was set a nice achievable goal, wake up at 9 and complete three or four before lunch, then three or four after. Just like learning to walk I needed to take baby steps. This would help me gain momentum, and before I knew it I was making my quota. The hardest part for me was after I dropped my kid off at school, just pulling out my computer to work. But you have to have some inner fortitude, otherwise it simply will just be a waste of energy for you and your employer. If you are having doubts in your mind, I know you really need this to pay off your student loans, consider them. Don't pretend to be someone your not, if you can do this, but you just need a nudge in the right direction then go for it. But if deep down you are just taking this for the money, then reconsider. You do not want the pressure of a job you cannot finish hanging over your head. Believe me I had nightmares about not meeting my quota. But once I settled myself down into a simple daily routine things became much easier, and the money is more than worth it.  Good Luck, your best asset is self confidence! remember, baby steps and you can do it!

That was a wonderful advice Elaine. We just have to take things slowly and move according to our pace. Otherwise, you will just stress your self out.
