Longest cycle was 37...now on day 42 and counting..no period!

Hi Everyone...I'm new to the forum (I'm 30yrs old). My husband and I have been TTC since the beginning of December 2009. I was on Estrostep FE (for 5yrs) & Yaz (5yrs) before I stopped at the end of November 2009. Since I stopped taking BCPs my cycle has been really out of whack. (32 days, 34 days, 37days was my longest) As you can tell its hard for me to keep track of when I'm ovulating...tried the OPKs (never know when to start..and expensive) ...never understood what to do about basal temp either? I'm now on day 42 of my cycle...took a pregnancy test at day 39 - Negative. I'm trying to stay very calm - bc I know stress doesn't help. I called the doctor on day 40 - went in for blood test. Just got call it was negative. As you can imagine I'm pretty bummed. Just worried something is wrong. I've never missed a period since I got it when I was 12 or 13. I don't have any symptoms of my period coming at all. Dr. said to wait another week - if I still don't have my period then they will put me on meds to start it. (but I'll need to take another test prior to the meds) I keep hearing to just have sex every 3 days and relax..relax ...relax. I'm doing that. Any advice...???

Hi and Welcome... My advice if the test is still negative is to have the doctors run a hormone panel on you and make sure that all of your hormones are at the right levels.

First I want to say WELCOME!
Second, we have all had someone tell us to "relax, it will happen." That is the most annoying thing to hear and no amount of relaxing would have helped me! I'm NOT telling you to stress over it, but I'm also not going to say to relax. Since you have been on birth control for a while, your body just might need time to adjust to being off of them. You said you never missed a period, but for 10 years you were on birth contol and it was the pills that were making you have a period.
If you think it would make you feel better, have your GYN send you for he hormone panel that LittleBit suggested. It will put your mind at ease or it will let you know that something is out of whack. You can't fix something if you don't know what's wrong.
Good luck!

Have you recorded your tempatures too? I had trouble and mine had to do with thyroid problems, and I needed to have my medication adjusted every month. Good luck!
