Re: Mickey

I was reading that glue traps are inhumane, but wouldn't the wood trap be just as bad... snapping the neck?

Re: Mickey

It's faster and they definitely die with a wood trap. We had glue traps for rats in the middle east. They didn't work that great. The rat could sometimes tear itself free. if you can find the hole he's getting in from, you can stuff the hole with steel wool and if mickey eats it, it will be curtains for mickey and any of his friends. That's not humane really either. but it is effective. Actually, since i grew up on a farm, my sensitivity to mouse and rat feelings/suffering is probably a whole lot less.

Re: Mickey

Randy is too funny, he HATES mice and refers to them as bubonic plague carrying MF's.

My mom use to mix rat poisen and cement together to get them.

I have seen them tear a leg off to get off. We had those at Pizza Hut when I worked there.

I am not being humane at all I want him gone. He showed himself and he is in for it!

Re: Mickey

I got a dose of "you're not too sensitive" while I was home. My Uncle recently sent his five buffaloes to the butcher. He was raising them for that purpose. My cousins were all upset and I was like "So? Isn't that what he raised them for?" My Uncle died out laughing and my cousins just stared at me. What can I say? I grew up with a feedlot in the backyard. But now, I know that I am not sensitive.

Re: Mickey

This is gonna sound crazy (and kinda yucky) but it works ... put some peanut butter on the end of a spoon and then balance over a sink of water ... when they walk out on to it to eat the pb, their weight tips the spoon and dumps 'em in the sink.

Re: Mickey

I have very little sensitivity for rodents or insects that come into my house. Before I left for dad's funeral, I found out I had a mouse. Since then, Mr. Mouse has found out I have a cat.

Re: Mickey

thats cos you feed the cat Jannie LOL and it sounds like you are feeding the mouse as well, picky little so and so. Put glue in the peanut butter, if he thinks PB sticks to the roof of his mouth now he he he, not to mention pretty hard to eat with your mouth glued shut

Re: Mickey

GOt it! Putting peanut butter on now.

Re: Mickey

On the traps I use, instead of the little metal plate, they have a kind of plastic, Swiss-cheese looking piece. I rub the peanut butter into the holes - make the little buggers work at it.

While I don't care for mice, I can't stand the glue traps. We caught a little snake on one when we moved into this house, and I insisted we drown the little guy. Couldn't bear the idea of it sitting on there starving.

As for d-con, do be careful. You'd hate to put poison out and THEN your cat takes an interest in the mouse...

Re: Mickey

Hey Judy!!!

It is a baited trap with peanut butter. Click and set, no poison.

I am so putting peanut butter on it. I am pissed I have had it out for 3 days and nothing. MICKEY better be on there tomorrow.

Re: Mickey

Part of the trick is to not put very much on there, and what is there, work into the nooks and crannies around the mechanism. Make the little RB work for it - the longer he's there, and the harder he presses, the faster his little mousey life will end.
