Did everyone finish their homework?

The amount of paperwork sent home for the parents to fill out is just overwhelming ... especially when you have multiple kids in school. I felt like I filled out my address and phone numbers a dozen times last night. The office needs the info, the class needs the info, and the bus driver even keeps the info on file.
Oh and did anyone else get last minute "I need fill-in-the-blank for so-and-so's class". Why send a list home and then wait until school starts to get more specific? One of Haley's teachers who only had "binder & dividers" on her list sent home a two page print out on exactly what your binder needs and instructions for filling out 7 dividers. 7? Why can't the teachers understand that dividers come in packs of 5 and maybe adjust their idea of the perfect binder just slightly to help save us some money? I mean is it really necessary to keep a separate tab for "first day handouts"? Her class only had 5 of them and that was the most she brought home from any class ... can't they go in the front pocket or something?

Re: Did everyone finish their homework?

I had an envelope almost 4 inches thick with paperwork for Drew. Took me almost 2 hours to go thru everything. He didn't get ANY supply lists until yesterday when school started. The only good news we got was that apparently the state of Texas passed a law that requires the school to provide a calculator for all students for any class that needs one (to be used only at school). Of course he will still need one for home, but for now, he will be using a program that turns the computer calculator into a scientific calculator.

Ally's paperwork wasn't quite so bad, only about 2 inches worth. Most of it was the same stuff I had to fill out for Drew. We've been in this school district 9 years, but every year I have to fill out the same stuff. Tell me why I have to fill out a new enrollment card every year when they are already enrolled? Waste of paper if you ask me.

Same here-- Both go back Monday only this year it is 2 different schools ( they took 5th grade out of elementary schools here ) Thomas now will be bussed across town to his school and I can walk Meghan to her school. Can't wait to see my homework. Oh and Meghan already got her fundraiser and she has not started school yet!!!! It came in her welcome letter from the school!!!!

Re: Did everyone finish their homework?

You're kidding me about the fundraiser, right? That's insane! We were told we would get Ally's fall fundraiser sometime in September, but to send it even before school starts? I think I would actually have to complain about that.

Re: Did everyone finish their homework?

No Brenda I was not kidding about the fundraiser, lol. It is not a typical wrapping paper type fundraiser. Our school came up with a rally a thon ( collecting pledges ) and the kids do activities like relay races, etc. There are prizes for the class that collects the most money and individual prizes as well.

As for the "homework" I got a TON from both schools!!!
Better get cracking on that,lol.

That was just funny Elaine. There are so many stuff to take care around the house and it is really overwhelming to get a bunch of homework. So how is everything working for you now?

I'd love to be the ideal mother but I'm too busy raising my kids. haha!`` Children's matters to the children themselves to do it, let them go.
