This is a devotion. However, it is specific for Mother's Day. That is why I am posting it here. I hope you all enjoy it.
Mother’s Greatest Gift
“Her children rise up and call her blessed.” Proverbs 31:28
Mother’s Greatest Gift
2 Timothy 1:1-7
As she opened the lid of the large cedar chest to examine its contents, Linda found herself amidst a great sea of memories. Her mother’s beaded broach and matching handbag were inside, placed neatly atop a stack of weathered devotional magazines.
Carefully, Linda opened one of the copies and began to read. The words were pleasantly familiar and its worn pages were peppered with handwritten dates and prayers. These were the messages her mother had read to her as a child and the prayers they had prayed together.
Equipped with their Bibles and pens, mother and daughter had spent each evening at the kitchen table, reading and praying. During these intimate study times, Linda had learned to trust the Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior, and in later years, to pass this life-changing information on to her own children.
It has been said that the most sincere form of flattery is imitation. If we hope to raise godly children, the best contribution we can make to their lives is that of a Christlike example. The Bible reinforces this important responsibility by entrusting older women with the teaching and instructing of the younger women in the church. {Titus 2:3-5}
If you are a mother, ask God to show you how to effectively impart the message of salvation through Jesus Christ to your children. If you have no children of your own, ask God how you can become involved as a mentor in a young believer’s life.
