I did lots of research before my son was born and my husband and I discussed the issue in depth between ourselves and with our doctor. In the end, we decided to have Alexander circumcised. Pain medicine was used. If we have another boy, we will have him circumcised as well.

Yes, my son was circumsized when he was a month . . . . the hospital I had him at wouldn't do it. It was horrible to watch. They strapped his little arms and feet down and he was screaming so hard that his whole body was turning red!! I felt so helpless and sad. I started to cry for him. I knew it was the best thing to do for him though. They supposablt numbed the area, but he didn't seem to think so. My poor baby boy.

If I was startinmg my family again I would not circumsize

Since the older boys and dh are circ' ed I decided to have Cole done too. I was in the hospital when he has his done I heard him scream and I cried in my bed too. The nurse was very nice she told me he would feel better if I nursed him right afterwards, I had him at the breast all night poor baby.

When I was 14 and a candystriper at the local hospital, I actually saw a circumcision performed. It was awful! I won't go into any details, but I remember it as clearly as if it happened yesterday. Later, in college, when I was in my women's lib phase, I watched a movie about female circumcision that's routinely performed in parts of Africa. I couldn't believe what I was seeing! They were very graphic. Of course I would NEVER do that to my dd!!! (They actually cut off the clitoris!) So, it hit me after my first dd was born that if I don't want to do that to my dd, why would I do it to my ds? We haven't had a son yet, but when we do, he will be au natural! LOL

YES YES YES

the articles i read said it was easier to keep clean and males that were circumsized had less infections of the penis. I couldn't stand the thought that if i didn't get it done and he had alot of problems with keeping his penis clean and it got infected alot he might have had to do it at a later time and then he'd remember the pain. I figured do it when he can't remember.

Luckily I had a baby girl so didn't have to make this decision, but I do believe we would have it done if we would have had a son. I think it would have to do with how I grew up believing it should be done. Also since DH is DS would be.

Does anyone know where I can find a link to information on both sides of the issue??

My nephew is not circumsised, and neither is my brother n law, they have taught shawn how to clean himself, he is 6 and never had an infection. My Hubby isn't circumsized either, and I doubt we'll circumsize our boy, if we have one. But I think that if hubby was circumsized, our child would have been too.

My son was circumsized mainly because dh is. However, I have heard that the risk of cervical cancer is less for women whose partner is circumsized.

Yes if I had a son I would Circumsize them.

We talked to a pediatrician and he said that it is really "6 of one, half-dozen of the other, it's your choice." So we didn't have our son circumsized. The odds of infections, etc for uncircumcized males aren't too overwhelmingly high, only a few percentage points over circumsized males, so I figure why do that to him? He's au natural!
