Is a train too much??

I was thinking about renting a train for Kimmy's 1st birthday. It is $125.00 for 1 hour and I don't know if I want to spend that much money! We are going to BBQ so I will probably spend $100 or more on food, decorations, paper plates, cake, etc.

Would any of you spend that much on one hour of entertainment for a one year old? I will probably have 10 kids here and I'm not sure what to do to entertain them. Any ideas?!?!?!?

We didn't do anything very kid oriented, because ours ended up being mostly adults and I figured since he was only 1, he wouldn't care either way. We had a blow up pool and slip and slide set up which the few that were there enjoyed! Have you thought about something like that? Kids love running through sprinklers and water guns and stuff? What are the ages of the other children?

In realm of pricing... not too sure if that is a good price or not. I know of people renting the Bouncy Houses and don't think they cost much to rent for a few hours, but I could be wrong.

I thought about the blow up pool, but her b-day is at the end of october and it might be too cold!?!
The kids that are coming range from 1yr to 10yrs. It's mostly my family and the kids are mostly around 8-10yrs.

Thanks for the ideas!

Well for me that would be just too much especially considering she will only be one years old and not really get much out of it. Why not wait a few years and they do it?

I don't know how much they cost, but I like the bouncy house idea. Our neighbors down the street rented one for their daughter's (about 2) birthday a couple of weeks ago and the kids seemed to really have a blast.

Hmmm... Personally for me that is just too much money to spend on something for a First Birthday. I would be worried that she wouldn't even like it (some small children don't).

For Tessa's first birthday, I made cupcakes and bought punch ball balloons for the kids. That was it, they played on the floor and had a grand old time. Of course all of her guests were either adults or also just turning 1.

Mainly it is up to you, if you can afford it and want to do it you should do what you think is best.
