Counselling after you loss

Did you receive counselling after your loss?

I spoke with a deacon in our church who helped as much as he could, but not any paid-for counsellor. My biggest helper was my dh who just let me cry on him.

How ironic that you posted the day I was in the process of losing Madeline.
So far, I have mostly leaned on my DH and my very best friend. I haven't spoken much to my pastor, but he came to visit a couple of times while I was in the hospital.

Sometimes the best counselor is the one you married since they are experiencing the same loss. My biggest problem I had and still have at times is when people asked me when I got pg with Camryn, if she was my first child. People will still ask if she's my only child. I just tell them that we have an angel in Heaven that would be almost 3 right now.

My angel McKenna went to heaven 11-5-99. It's hard to believe she would be 3 this May.

I saw a counsellor at that time. And even though it's not the same, this time (when we grieved the children we would never have) I talked to my minister.

I have to agree though, my husband was my biggest support.

I have been to a support group meeting but I don't think it's the same as counselling.

I never got any counseling, but I had a few close friends who had been through similar situations that I talked with.
