Does anyone have any ideas on how to

make a pair of pirate pants? I don't want just sweat pants. The picture I saw that I want to copy was a pair of pants that kind of balloon on the legs and had white stripes. Then I am going to buy a yellow scarf, long sleeve plain white shirt and either buy or make a red vest. I know nothing about sewing so I need a very simple plan. Any ideas?

All I can think is to find a full below the knee skirt at a thrift store, cut a slit up the middle but not too far, sew hemns into the two bottom sections, then slip elastic into the hemn gathering the material, sew the ends of the elastic together, then sew up the inside of the "legs"

Either than that you can probably purchase pirate pants.

Take some black and white fabric. Lay down a pair of jogging pants the size you want the pirate pants to be. Cut out a "pattern" about 2 - 3 inches bigger than the jogging pants. Then all you have to do is sew the legs together and put some elastic in the top and in the bottom. But you know ..... a pair of pirate pants might be cheaper at Party City than the fabric!?!?

Yeah, I am going to check Party City to see if they have. That does sound so much easier!

Jennifer, this is a really cute costume...it might be a little too complicated but it won't hurt to check it out!

I'll look for a few other links, but let me know if you decide to purchase one, I'll quit looking
