Just an FYI

I have put a request into the new management to delete all previous posts that I have made as well as my journal due to privacy issues. When Dawn was the owner I felt certain that our privacy was respected and that those who weren't members could not read our private posts in our journals, behind closed doors, etc. Not only that but I believe that we used to have a lot more privacy  before when we were screening new members which is not the case now.

I just wanted to give everyone a heads up so you wouldn't worry if you saw that my posts were gone as well as my journal. :)

I will still be here and I will still be posting, just not the intimate, personal aspects of my life like I have in the past.

I understand.  Privacy is why I quit Facebook.  I have deleted a lot of my journal too.

I never even thought to check what you can see when you're not logged in ...

I logged out and checked ... Glad to see that everything that was private still seems to be.  The new member thing though ... idk.

All you need to be a member is to make a username, password and have an email addy. There is no longer a membership process to weed out weirdos, spammers etc.

Is there a way to delete an entire journal or every one of a person's post all at one time?  We have so many journals of people who haven't been around in years.  They may as well be removed to make space for those who are active members.  I've been working on deleting my journal for days.  It has been slow going one page at a time.

Lenora ~ We used to routinely delete journals that weren't being used anymore as well as prune old information out of certain forums like deals/coupons/etc to free up space.  However, after the Janice incident (she got upset because I made the post count dip below the million mark) I stopped doing stuff like that ... I don't even know that I know how any more.

*rolleyes*  Figures.  She did not get us at all.  It would be nice to trim down the place a bit.  Are 8 or 9 year old posts really needed?  I would like to see some streamlining done, too.

Janice would be really mad at me.  I just trimmed about 20 pages from my journal!  LoL

I want to know how you did it Lenora!  I tried to delete some of mine and I couldn't get it to work.

My journal was over 20 pages long, so I started at the very beginning and moved forward.  Go to the top of the thread page you want to delete. Do you see all the little empty boxes at the end of each thread title?  To delete all the threads on one page, every box at the end of the thread, will have to be checked.  In the toolbar thing at the top of your journal, there should be an arrow pointing down.  Left click the arrow.  A pull down menu should come down.  Hit Select All.  Scroll down to the bottom of the list of threads.  You should see a pull down Menu that reads Select Action.  Choose Delete.  Hit Go button next to the pull down menu.  It will take you to another page with a list of all the posts you want to delete.  Go to the bottom of the page.  Click Delete threads.  The threads are now sort of gone.

They seem to exist for a few days where you can restore them if you like.  It was easier before the redesign.  If you do a lot of pages at once, it will keep giving you a list of already deleted posts at the bottom of new posts you want to delete.  Then after awhile, it locks up the site completely for you and sends a message to the technical staff.

Like you, I kind of like my past to stay where it belongs - in the past.  I would like to delete a good number of my old posts too.  It is sure slow going though.  It was faster and easier before the redesign.  I deleted most of my journal then.

I would like to have mine deleted too. but it looks like a long road to do it. I have some info I need to pull from them first. (like some of the girls milestones to put into baby books (I am so pathetically behind right now)

Well, my request is obviously being ignored. I haven't heard a thing regarding my email. Prolly ignoring me because of the post count or because it is too much work.

Frankly, I no longer write anything that I worry about others seeing.  After a little family problem on facebook, I simply quit posting anything that I didn't want others to know.  I've never worried about that here, but then again I've never had any problems here.  Elaine, do we know if privacy is now an issue here with all the "remodeling" going on?  I seriously doubt Bob is deliberately ignoring you, Krista.  Let's see if Elaine or someone can get in touch with him and get this taken care of for you.
