Sorry I haven't been around much - we've been dealing with family issues.
Rick's father was diagnosed with lung cancer several weeks ago. He had a biopsy and we found out last week it is malignant. Apparently he has 2 or 3 spots in the upper quadrant of his left lung. They also found a spot in his throat. He has alot of medical problems that he has been fighting for years, mostly his diabetes. The doctors think chemo will kill him, so surgery is the way to go. However, he was unable to pass his stress test (to see if he could withstand the surgery), so they gave him a chemical stress test. They found that one of the chanbers in his heart is dead/not working at all. So this coming Monday they are going to take a look. If it turns out to just be a blockage, they will take care of it and schedule his thorasic surgery to remove the lung spots next Wednesday (don't know yet about the throat - it's very confusing). However, if it turns out to be something else, we don't know what they will do.
At this point, I don't know what to think or feel. Yes, I've had alot of problems with Rick's dad over the years, but I really DO love him. He is a crotchety old fart and he loves to try to get me going (he tells Rick he likes me best becasue I fight back! LOL!). Rick isn't handling it too well, but that is to be expected. We have told Drew what is going on (and he has talked to his grandfather), but we are waiting to say anything to Ally. She is Papa's special girl and I just know this is going to be extremely hard for her.
Everyone please say a prayer for him and the rest of the family and send your positive vibes our way. We are definitely going to need them.
