OK, so I cut back on portions, drank way more water, cut down on DP (2-3 a day which is less than half of what i was doing). Didn't lose a single pound, but didn't gain either. My biggest challenge right now is eating. I can't eat things like salads until I get my dentures (which we are still trying to save for). Most of the food I am forced to eat are carbs because they are soft enough for me to chew. *sigh* I want real food, but until I can ...... does anyone have any ideas?

I have found since my cat lost his teeth (not the same thing at all I know) that it is very hard to find low cal food he can eat toothless. I imagine it's the same for people. *hugs* You could always go the baby food route, but that stuff is gross. I don't know how babies do it.

Cottage cheese with fruit, Campbell's soup at Hand (or any broth based soup ... that's just what I take for lunch at work). spread laughing cow 35 cal cheese on thin sliced turkey and roll it up (maybe too difficult to chew), any protein based meal replacement drink, scrambled eggs (2 whites, 1 yolk) with crumbled in turkey bacon, yogurt ... Wow, that is actually difficult to think up ... when I think of "soft" foods, I usually think of pastas and mashed potatoes ... NOT great diet food! Have you thought of trying to puree things? Kinda gross looking but I can't imagine it tastes that different.

Yeah, puree DOES taste different. Most of the time it's ok, but sometimes it's just nasty! LOL!
Here is my biggest problem. Since I had my gallbladder out a few years ago, i have to watch what I eat or my digestive system lets me know (and not in a nice way! LOL!). Nothing high in fat, nothing greasy, no whole grains AT ALL (they don't break down), and little to no cheese - altho white cheese is easier for me. Yellow is hard cause it's high in fat.
I love cottage cheese w/ fruit or just salt & pepper on it, so I eat that alot. I'm not a huge soup fan, altho I eat more of it now than I used to. But I have learned that I have to be careful with them. Some of them are high in fat or kindy greasy (which translates to delicious, but bad for me). Because of my GERD, I rarely eat tomato soup, which is a favorite. I tend to avoid most tomato based meals because of the heartburn factor, even after taking my Zantac. I am going to try to turkey with the cheese, Elaine. Dont' know why I never thought of that! Some of those are white cheeses, aren't they? That would be a great idea, since I have a real problem getting enough protein sometimes.
I don't drink the meal replacement drinks because of the flavors. I hate chocolate and I'm not fond of the vanilla or strawberry flavors, which is all I've ever seen. I've started collecting some smoothie recipes since Rick got me a stick blender for Xmas, so I'm going to try some of those out after I go shopping later today. Some frozen fruit and a little OJ make a great sorbet, too.
I actually bought some yogurt (which I hate, btw) and tossed it in the freezer. Gonna try it like frozen yogurt, which I do like. I think it kills the aftertaste I hate.
Thanks for the ideas, ladies. Getting healthy will be alot easier once I can actually EAT again! LOL!
