Framing a quilt

Anyone ever done this before?  I made hand quilted baby quilts for the girls before they were born.  Now they aren't babies anymore, I was thinking of faming them.  What makes them look really good framed?  I will have to post photos of my mounted quilt when dh gets it mounted.

hmm - hadn't thought about framing - just hangning them

This one is really small - like for a newborn baby.  Otherwise, I would mount it.

ahh - I think I'd try adn find a unique frame for it them. But other than that I have no idea.

I think I would try to find something handmade looking and simple

I'll bet your DH could make something.  That is, if you could get him to do it.  :)  LOL!  Seriously, he's good at that stuff.  He could make frames that would match the furniture or whatever.

I don't have any of my own knowledge on the subject but I was thinking you could probably search how to frame a flag for preservation and apply the same principles.

I read up on it.  The only thing that has me concerned is how I will sew the quilt to a matboard.  I have never sewed on cardboard before.  I researched how to frame a quilt and it's pretty much like making a shadow box.  I think dh will have to make the frame, because it will have to be rather large for a frame.

I have only done a few shadow box type projects, but frankly nothing had to be "tacked down".  If it is done right, the objects in a shadow box are pretty much held in place.  Of course, that mey be totally different with a quilt.
