my kids are in school - at least for today. I have already done the dishes and cleaned the kitchen (heavy duty cleaned it yesterday). Today I want to tackle the kids room and the master bath. The kids room will probably take most of the day. Gonna get rid of alot of stuff, we just don't have the room anymore.

Well... Jim cleaned the house yesterday (Gotta love him). I'm planning on making flashcards for Microbiology as well as some flashcards for the girls (Sammie needs some subtraction ones).
I'm planning to go out for a ski at least once today, at the moment I'm leaning towards going for one here in a few minutes around the neighborhood. Then going out again later in the day.
The girls want to go out and build either an igloo or a snowman or both. Looks like between 3 and 4 will be the warmest (of course there's no telling with the wind). I figure Tessa will try to go out for a ski while the little girls play (if she can still fit in my ski boots).
We are really just planning on having some good family time today.
I am making beef stew for dinner (YUM!)
Stay warm Brenda, I know that is REALLY cold for you.

I'll be cleaning house, doing laundry and working on finishing the snow shoveling dh started. He did most of it. There is not too much more to do. I need to scatter some salt, because we have 1.5-2 inches of ice under the snow. So we are stuck at home until some of that ice melts. I had forgotten about Valentine's day until Brenda's post. We may make Valentines for my aunts and the grandmas.

What kind of salt do I need for that? We have a few icy patches I would like to treat, but darned if i remember what to use. I have kosher and regular, but isn't there a special kind?
there is a special salt for melting ice, it is alot like the salt that goes into a water conditioner, lilke rock salt. very very corse. almost like pebbles.
for ice salt it has to be a certain cold temperature to actually melt the ice. if it is too warm it just sits there.
today i'm off work and so far still sitting in my housecoat, watching the bachelor and biggest loser and maybe starting some laundry
a nothing day

I used the cheapest salt they sell at Home Depo. I think it was $7 a bag. I wanted something cheap and environmentally friendly. This is supposed to be both. I used that eco friendly ice melt stuff last time. It was a lot more expensive. I know salt is bad for cement, but someone breaking a hip or a bone is a lot worse than patching cement.

I wish I could use the snow as an excuse for staying inside today but it's just not amounting to much of anything here ... It is sooo cold & windy though!
I made it out to the gym this morning, came back and did a little bit of cleaning and lounging around, and just got back from the grocery store. I have about 45 min before I have to head out to start picking kids up from school and then it's off to do laundry! yay.

I checked with Lowe's and Home Depot. It's rock salt that is best. However, kosher salt will work. Hell, table salt will work, but very slowly. Since no one has anything coming in until at least tomorrow (Thurs), I'm using kosher on the patches Drew almost broke his butt on this morning.
I spent the day @ DQ.
Kev told me last night we'd be opening & having a regular day. SO I opened (as my opener was snowed in) and was supposed to leave @ 4 when the 4pm person's mom called @ 12:30 to tell me her daughter wouldn't be in & how dare I expect her to come in etc. (the roads were fine by 4) So I was like ok I'll stay til 5 (can't leave 1 person by themselves. Well the 5 person comes in and looks like she's about to pass out so I sent her home meaning Kev or I had to pull the night shift. SO here I am finishing a 12 hour DQ day. (He was plowing all morning so I figured he needed a break.)
I wanted to be snowbound @ home so I could get caught up on things and instead I end up here & behind another day on things. :(
