Anyone else had this problem?

Even though we reduced our usage in water, turned down the heat and went to a lot of trouble to lower our utility bills, our bills went up because of unannounced rate changes. Dh fixed a couple of leaks and I turned down the heat, but our bill still went up $5 on water and $50 on gas.  I'm not used to these $90 + water/sewage/trash bills.  Things were a lot cheaper back in WV.  I think we used only a little over the minimum on our water.  We'll try to cut back some more.  After seeing the bills just go up and up even though we are cutting back, dh finally agreed to a clothesline in the backyard.  *sigh*  Thank goodness we can buy our groceries on base!  Anyone else having the problem of rate hikes on utilities?

Lets just say I'd be happy if mine was only $90

Everything is going up.  Our water/sewage bill is 60.00 a month but our electric bill and nat gas bill have gone out of control.  Especially our electric bill.  What is odd is our house is all natural gas and that bill is cheaper than our electric bill.  Freaking crazy

When you go from less then $200 a month for all your utilities to $450+ is a bug adjustment.

well...  I think part of it is that you went from a small apartment to a big house.  That alone is going to cause a jump in your bill.  As for the rest, I think our bill has gone up a little but not too much.

I would have expected out electric bill to go down since we went from electric to gas heat.  But it didn't.  frown.gif I still have some fixtures that can't handle the low use bulbs that I am looking forward to replacing.  But by then it will be summer and the ac will be on.
