Colin Firth as Best Actor

I've been hearing a lot complains about him getting the oscar award. I thought he deserves it. I saw the King's Speech the other week and was really impressed. What about you?

He's a fine actor so I am sure that he does.  I almost never watch the movies that win all the awards, because they are almost always dramas.  If they gave a special Oscar for Kung fu movies or comedy or action, then I could say if the performances were good, but I really don't care for drama.  If I want drama, I can just wake up in the morning.  My (extended) family is drama.

Oh yeah. And we know exactly why. If they make an action movie and have some characters in there intended to win best actors or best actress award, then that's gonna ruin everything. These awards are just for crybabies. lol

The one Oscar winner I have seen and really liked was Toy Story 3.  Thank goodness there are Oscars for stuff like best make up, best animated film, special effects, etc.  I go through those not so famous movies and do find some I really like.  I intend to watch The Wolfman now based on it's win for Best Make Up.  A) Anthony Hopkins is an amazing actor. B) I like creature features and werewolf movies.  My dh is nuts about westerns, but not John Wayne, so we may watch True Grit.  I remember it was one of Wayne's better movies.

I would like to see Johnny Depp win one of these days.  He's fantastic, but he never wins. I think sometimes it's political who wins, but then one like Kathy Bates or Whoopi Goldberg wins and it throws me totally off.  Misery is still one of the scariest movies ever made.

It's funny how the movies that win are often forgotten while other movies stay hugely popular for years.  Who knows who won Best Actor or Actress the year Back to the Future or Ghostbusters came out?  I looked it up, Back to the future won two Oscars - one for sound, and one for special effects.   In ten years, people will say Black what?  and Tron was so cool!

I couldn't agree more. I had no plans of watching wolfman but now that you mentioned it, I think I already want to watch it now too. lol. I watched true grit yesterday but got so bored in the first 15 minutes of the movie so I just stopped and watched the Mechanic instead (men are almost always way into action packed films). Sorry about that. I love Jeff Bridges's role/roles in Tron legacy though. I guess you are right on oscars about being political, in the past years, I thought they have been not that fair. Anyways, I'm still glad inception got the best cinematography. I actually thought they get the best picture for it. If you haven't seen it yet, then you better watch it today. ; )

Inception was really cool.  I don't know if I'd watch it over and over again like I have Jurassic Park or Star Wars, though.  Here's a plot summary for Wolfman:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Wolfman_%282010_film%29  I think I have seen it.  It did have cool special effects.  I don't mind heavy action movies (I think I've seen every Clint Eastwood and Steve McQueen movie ever made.) Dh loves action, so we end up watching a lot of that.  I think the last movies we bought were the Alien, Predator and Terminator series.  Hey, I just read in the news they are remaking Robocop.

Don't get me wrong, I like Colin Firth.  I like Nanny McPhee and Bridget Jones.  I will probably end up watching Nanny McPhee more because my kids like her.  They also liked Five Children and It which is the same type of movie.  If your kids are under 10, they might like 5 children and It.  It's about five children who go off to live with their eccentric uncle in the country during WWI due to the bombing of London.  Their dad is a pilot and they really want him to come home when they run into a "fairy" who grants their wishes.  It's a book adaption like Nanny McPhee.  Colin Firth isn't in it.

That's so cool! My wife's not really a big fan of action movies but she loves piranha 3D which is really strange to me. I've also seen all alien, predator and terminator movies. The last predators movie though wasn't really convincing to me. I was expecting better effects and storyline considering we now live in a time where 3D dominates the big screen. Well, what would you expect from Robert Rodriguez?

I love Nanny McPhee, one of my favorite colin firth movies. Bridget Jones was really good at that movie too. I think I've heard about Five Children and It but haven't really watched it. After reading your post, I quickly looked for its trailer on youtube and now I'm regretting why I don't have that movie!

And yeah, if their really remaking Robocop then that gonna be a box office hit for sure. I heard they are remaking red dawn too.

5 children and it was really cute.  the kids don't act like small grown ups.  They act like kids throughout.  There's never a point where you go, no kid would do that.  I don't want to spoil it, but their first wish to have their chores magically done is too cute!  And you can see a kid wishing for that.

They are remaking Red dawn, eh?  I will have to see that.  icon14.gif

That's why I'm already excited to see that movie with the kids. I've watched The Wolfman the other night, it was kind of gross at some point. (not really into horror movies : ) ). It was still a great movie though but I'm thinking about letting the kids see it.

Yeah, they are remaking red dawn which is going to be very exciting. It might come out late 2012 or early 2013. I don't mind waiting.
