10 month old and sleeping issues

Thread Starter

My name is Andrea, and I am writing an article about children and sleep.. from a parents perspective.

If anyone feels obliged, please respond to the following questions:

# How do I get my 10-month-old to go to sleep?
# How many hours of sleep does a 10-month-old need?
# What are the possible causes of my 10-month-old not sleeping?
# When should a 10-month-old sleep through the night?
# Is it appropriate for my 10-month-old to sleep in my bed with me?
# Should I give anything to my 10-month-old to help him or her sleep?

Thank You

We've had four children to take through the process of getting them to sleep. Every child is different, or course. Some little ones fight sleep, for whatever reason. Others seem perfectly happy to drift off when it's time.

A couple of things that helped us get them to sleep. One was not trying to get it super-quiet when putting them down for a nap or at bedtime, so they got used to some background noise, and didn't wake as easily.

Music can be a great relaxer.  I love music, so I'm sort of picky about the music I choose. I found that often lullaby albums are pretty but have too many high pitched instruments or sounds that jolted the little ones, who seem to be especially sensitive to high pitches when they are very young. One that I found that I liked was at Baby Lullaby Music.  The music is quiet and gentle, and it might put you to sleep as well! And I have to tell you the first songs with the mom humming along to Brahm's Lullaby was beautiful.

Good luck with your article!

I found another music CD of lullabies that I wanted to mention. It has some classical music that I really like - which is perfect for a Baby University! A music education while listening to lullabies!

It starts off with Clair De Lune, followed by Chopin's Prelude in D, and later on you'll hear Traumerei and then the last song is Bethoven's Moonlight Sonata. To A Wild Rose is another song that is from a classical writer, though it's just a pretty little song. Oh, and Chopin's Prelude in D is a bit shorter than the actual piece that Chopin wrote - they took out the louder section in the middle.

Okay, I'm going down a bunny rabbit trail here! Anyway, if you go to this Baby Lullaby Music site, you'll hear the music that I was talking about. It's actually by the same people that did the first album I mentioned in my previous post.
