What do you give your trick or treaters?

What kind of candy do you give out? Do you give anything besides candy?

To keep the kids occupied until it was time to go trick or treating in NZ I used to bake cookies while they were at school and make up slime (green) and blood (red) icing, and have various types of sprinkles and lollies (the halloween kind, spiders, skulls that kind of thing), put a plastic tablecloth on the table chuck everything on it and let them decorate to their hearts content.

They got to keep their favourite 3 and the rest were given out 1 to a child with some lollies They went down a treat

A lot of the kids wanted to make their own cookies but I had to say "Sorry, but your Mum wouldn't like it if you went into a strangers house would she?" and most of them agreed, they had just forgotten.

I think it is sad you have to remind them but I would have felt awful if they had gone into someone elses house after mine thinking they were safe and something bad happened to them.

We don't get trick or treaters .. road to busy. But I usually buy a bag or two of Halloween candy for the kids, DH and the neighbors!

When we go out for the evening ... I usually put the bowl of candy on the front steps .. but it is never touched!

I buy our tricker or treaters every kind of candy that I like. That way, I get all the leftovers and sometimes when the bowl starts to run low, it's time to shut the lights off. We buy chocolate bars, sour cherrys, fuzzy peaches, skittles, star bursts, reese peanut butter cups, suckers....all the good stuff.

We usually put a bowl out but it isn't touched much. I usually just buy a type of chocolate and something else like Nerds or starburst.

We don't stay home for Halloween because of the lack of Trick or Treaters. We take the kids with some friends to a big neighborhood.

I give them the kind that I like, too. That way I get the left-overs. Am I bad or what? I always hated when I went places and got junky candy.

Usually I get a sucker and some Reese or Hershey miniatures. I liked the fun-size packages of skittles, too.

Although we haven't had any trick-or-treaters at our complex the last two years. I know our new neighbors have kids, so I imagine we'll get some this year, or I'll just fix treat bags for them and take them over!

We buy good candy also, but I try to get the popular ones that I don't eat, so I WON'T eat the leftovers! We usually get reeses cups, kit kats, skittles, sweeties (sweet tarts) whatever I can get on sale. In Florida, we never got trick or treaters but since moving to the subdivision we are in now, we got slammed last year. There are a lot of kids in this neighborhood. Last year we did a neighborhood party type thing, with all the cul-de-sacs doing different things. One made cookies, one had bean bag toss, one did costume contest, etc. Some of the people in the neighborhood would drive there truck and pull a trailer with kids on the back. Hopefully this year will be just as busy, but I will have to find someone to stay home and hand out the candy. I am afraid if I left a bowl, someone would take it all!
