I love Thanksgiving, that's usually around when my bday is. We always have some sort of family get together, one with my parents and sometimes my sister(s) and one get together with Marco's brother's and their families.

Thanks Jenn, I'm still in the Back to School mode and I didn't even realize that Thanksgiving is getting that close.
Maree - the Americans celebrate Thanksgiving in Nov. but the Canadians celebrate the second Monday in October.

Before my parents divorced, we always went to my grandmother's. When I was a little older, we'd go to some other relatives or my mom would cook for us and my step-siblings. After I got married, we spent the first Thanksgiving at Bob's grandparents in Delaware, but last Thanksgiving we stayed home, and his mom cooked. This year, I'm not sure!

Thanks Bonnie, glad I didn't watch all those sitcoms for nothing as a child

They were the closest we ever came to Halloween and Thanksgiving (see I never even realised that it was one word, I've only really heard it, not seen it LOL)

We don't celebrate Thanksgiving.

Since we now live in a different state than everyone else in the family, it makes it hard. Usually Christmas and Thanksgiving are planned for the next year at this years dinner! Growing up we usually spent Thanksgiving at my Grandmothers in Cocoa Beach, FL. My Grandmother died in August of last year, so last year we did Thanksgiving at our house with my mom and step father. This year we are trying to talk my mom or DH's dad to come up, but we don't know yet. It might just be DH, myself and DS, which would be fine. Actually Christmas will be that way also since no one can get time off to travel with Christmas being in the middle of the week!

I have never celebrated anywhere but at my mom's or my aunts house with the whole family.

This will be my first year that I am left on my own because mom remarried and will be going to her new husband's hometown to visit his parents.

I don't like the idea of a little Thanksgiving at home so I am trying to find somewhere to go.

Before Michael was born we celebrated Thanksgiving at my parents home. Now that we have our own little family, we celebrate at home.

Elaine, you are welcome to come to my house but I don't think that is exactly what you had in mind!
I'm not even sure what we are doing?!?! I was kinda hoping that Roxanna would tell me instead of me telling her!

When I was little it was lunch at my mom's mom and supper at my dad's mom....the same with every holiday. But one of my grandma's died 2 years ago so my mom has one big one now. But now I have to go to Den's grandma's for lunch. And his stepmom's family has theirs the Sunday before Thanksgiving.

Elaine - as you probably know we celebrated Thanksgiving a couple of weeks ago, and I too was feeling kind of lonely and depressed because I was use to having lots of family around. For the past few years it's just been my dh and kids, his parents and his sister/so. I would hear how my parents THanksgiving and Christmas were(with my brother and sister and their families) and I would feel more depressed. Then I decided this Thanksgiving I would get out the good china and silverware and make my dh and kids feel special. It turned out great! THe kids were on their best behavior and they loved eating off of the dishes they didn't even know we had LOL! I also asked each member the night before to think of all the things they were thankful for and to share it with us at dinner. They thought up some wonderful things. THe we each said one thing that we thought Abby would be thankful for if she could tell us!
I just remembered all those years that I wanted a family and children and now I have them, and I wanted them to know how thankful I am to have them!(I didn't get married and have children until I was in my 30's)
I hope this helps you in some way.
