Elaine I am coming to YOUR place for dinner!

We have all the same things pretty much..
Turkey
Stuffing
Mashed Potatoes and gravy
Candied Yams
Rolls
Pumpkin pie

I love green bean casserole but Court hates it and so I would be the only one eating it. This is my first Thanksgiving I am doing alone. I am also going to make home-made noodles, bread pudding and Pine Apple Salad because that is what Court's mom and Grandma always made. Oh my mom always had a veggie tray and I think I will do that too. Can't wait!

We've pretty much stuck to the traditional foods: turkey, dressing, sweet potatoes, green beans, mashed potatoes, pie, etc.

In the last few years, it's gotten more interesting.... deep fried turkey (actually VERY yummy & NOT at all greasy) and PRIME RIB! Had all the usual fixings..... although MIL likes to make homemade scalloped potatoes and mac & cheese!

Well the good thing is I will cheat and buy the rolls..probably do instant mashed potatoes...canned gravy (can never make it). The pie and the pineapple salad can be made the day before. I did some of it for Christmas last year. So I guess I will manage this year but....

We have a huge spread that is usually at my parents. This year she talked me into having it at my house!
Since we have so many people (about 50) in my family we do a pot-luck type of meal that starts at noon and goes til about 6pm.

The menu this year:

3 Cajun Fried Turkeys (my dad fries them! )
Honey baked ham
Homemade mashed potatoes*
Green Bean Casserole*
Stuffing
Artichoke Squares*
Homemade Mac and Cheese*
Brocolli Casserole
Shrimp and Mirliton dressing
Brocolli Corn Bread
Rolls
Macoroni Salad
Sweet Potato Casserole

Desserts:
Dump Cake
Dirt Cake
Pumpkin Pie*
Watergate Salad

The items with a * are the ones I'm making!

We usually have more than this because some people say they are only going to make one thing and end up bringing 3 or 4 different dishes! I love Thanksgiving!

french cut green beans

Sounds all so I am coming over to all your houses. LOL Just kidding.

It's only going to be the two of us. We're having

Turkey
homemade mashed potatoes
homemade gravy
cranberry sauce (canned, I don't like it, dh does)
probably green beans
maybe this stuffed acorn squash recipe I found on the Giant Eagle page
Pumpkin pie or maybe Streusel Topped Pumpkin pie which I also found on the Giant Eagle homepage

Steve grew pumpkins again this year and I cooked them up and frozen my pumpkin. I think fresh pumpkin is 100% better than the canned, but it does take literally hours to cook it down and freeze it. But it's worth it to us.

I look like I make the standard:

Turkey (marinated turkey breast from Costco) cooked in the crockpot for 8 hours with chicken broth - YUMMY

Greenbean casserole

Sweet potato casserole

Mashed potato

Stuffing (only last year I forgot to make it. My mother brought it up at dinner. ) Have to remember it this year!

biscuits

Pumpkin Pie

Cranberry Sauce

I don't eat the sweet potato, stuffing, pumpkin pie or cranberry sauce.

This year I am going to try and make an apple crisp pie. Any recipes welcome...
