What are the symptoms...

Of RSV? Or pneumonia?

I'm just wondering because 3 weeks ago, Sydney came down with this terrible cold, wicked cough, congestion, runny nose, the whole bit. After about 2 weeks, she started feeling way better and acting like herself again. Now this being week #4, she is better, but her chest is still congested. We can feel it in her back when we hold her and she sounds really crackly when she breaths, especially at night and first thing in the morning. And I should mention that she still coughs throughout the entire night, but not during the day as much.
Everything else is normal, except for this.

What do you think could be going on? Is this the cold still lingering 4 weeks later or could it be something else now?

I know that this cold that has been going around tends to last quite awhile....if you are at all concerned though Leah, then better to bring her in and get her checked. Did she go on antibiotics last time??? It could be that she just can't seemt o get over it.

I have a Dr.'s appt for her tomorrow afternoon. No, she wasn't prescribed any medication at all.

I don't know if you remember or not but a few months ago TK went thru this (it was winter here then) and he ended up taking 2 different kinds of antibiotics, having a blood test and then more antibiotics and being in quarintine bc he had whopping cough. Bc we have all been innoculated none of us got the 'whoop' we just got the 'cough' which would not go away except in the daytime, the cooler air at night set us off coughing.

Now I'm not saying she has whooping cough but it maybe something to mention bc our Dr never even thought about it bc we had all been innoculated and were therefore 'immune' DUH even I know you can still get the things you are vaccinated against you just don't get them as badly so they are not life threatning

Hope she feels better soon

With this 'cold' being so tenacious, I would definitely ask your pediatrician about the possibility of RSV & have him/her check Sydney. I think it's a prudent thing to check... especially at change of seasons! Good luck & give Sydney a for me!
