Flu question

How long is the flu contageous? My daughter's friend has had the flu (was confirmed to be flu) and even though she is feeling much better she still has a bit of a cough and runny nose. Is it safe to let them play together or do I need to wait untill she is completely cleared up?
They are dieing to see each other again.

If she has a runny nose & a little bit of a cough, she probably isn't contageous anymore. In researching I found the "official" timeframe is from approx. 24 hrs before symptoms appear (like we can tell that! ) up to when symptoms are most severe, which in some people can last up to 7 days! As long as the little one is on the downward slope with sniffles & a slight cough, things should be OK.
