Have you gotten or are you going to get a flu shot this year? Why or why not?

I got my flu shot this morning before leaving work. I was a good girl, so they gave me a sugar-free sucker! (Hel-lo-o -- I WANTED the sugar!! )

I was just wondering if any of my other friends have or were going to get one???

I missed 1 year and got the flu it took me nearly 4 weeks to recuperate, can't believe how much longer it takes to get over things these days.

As a person with a chronic disease (Diabetes), I always get my flu shot every year. I believe that his year there were three strains of the flu virus.

Wow! WTG ladies!!

Shelia, they usually recommend that people with chronic diseases, elderly persons, health care or child care workers should get flu shots. (Sorry if I missed any groups... very tired.. need sleep soon....) These are the main groups. If you would want one, I'd look for flu-shot clinics... they give them form a small fee. I used to give TONS of flu shots when I worked in public health. I think the health dept. charged like $5 a shot. I see the local Walgreen's is giving them for $12 a shot. I got mine at work/the hospital for free -- part of the job. The RN who gave me the shot was telling me they did 12,000 last year for our health system alone!

I was just wondering what everyone thought about flu shots. We (fellow RN's & I) were talking with an Infectious Disease MD yesterday morning & asked him point blank if the flu shot could make you sick.... he said NO because it is NOT a live virus. (The live viruses have the potential to make you sick.)

Well done, ladies!!

Just don't want to have deal with DH if he gets the flu. Can I make him take 10 shots just in case???....
