Steriods

I'm having a bout of optic neuritis. Iwill be calling for an appointment with a neurologist tomorrow. When I have had insurance, they've given me IV steriods to reduce the swelling in my optic nerve. Will I be able to use those again now that I am pregnant? Will they do an MRI on my head since I am pg? I'm taking Tylenol right now. Hopefully, it will help. Thanks.

My dh thinks it was some sort of an allergic reaction to the tiolet bowl cleaner I used today. It did clear up when I took some Tylenol and got out in the fresh air like he insisted on. I'm wondering if I should still call the doctor because I took my BP at the worst point and I could barely hear it. It kept fading in and out. I had the cuff on right. I readjusted it and retook my pressure twice to finally hear something. It was 110/80 which is not spectacularily high, but i have been having a problem with numbness in my hands all night too. My MS problems seem to follow problems with my BP. Is that normal for MS?

The numbness in your hands is a normal symptom of MS but can be a symptom of other things also.
Your B/P seems fine
It sounds like you did have a reaction to the cleaner, but since you have already had optic neuritis, I would have it checked. I think it would be likely that they hold of on any MRI's till after you've had the baby. Unless there's a life threatening problem or a broken limb, they don't like to do any sort of radiology during pregnancy.

In regards to the steroids, I think it is likely that they will hold that off till after baby comes too. Some are safe during pregnancy, infact ventolin is a type of "steriod" which can be useful for stopping premature contractions. They also use another type of "steriod" to mature babies lungs in the womb, for an early delivery.
The steriod they use for optic neuritis, is probably an ant-inflammitory, which can thin the blood and also affect your stomach linning.
It's hard to know for sure without knowing exactly what they use

I hope your symptoms ease on there own

They are a lot better this morning. I still have some numbness left in my hands, but not nearly as bad as last night. The eye pain eased about 10 minutes into dinner. Steve insisted it was a reaction and took me out to eat last night to get me out of the house and into the fresh air. He threw away that cleaner by the way. It was one which is supposed to remove hard water deposits. He bought me another bottle of something gentler and mainly citrus.
