I need some advice....... for weeks I have been having this crushing pain in my chest going into my arm and now going up into my throat. Iam even starting to get heartburn really really bad. I had an angiogram done a couple months ago and everything was ok. So I don't understand what this could be. Need advice please. And by the way...... those angiograms hurt like the dickens...........

Have you called and talked to your Dr, or at least call your ER and talk to a nurse???? Usually chest pain, especially that whichis radiating down your arm is a sign that there is something going on that you really need to get looked at. Please let us know what happens

Yes my doctor sent me to a heart specialist and he did the angiogram. As far as ER..... no I haven't and I really kindda feel stupid and dumb going in there and it turns out to be nothing. But it is starting to really worry me and I was also wondering if stress could cause this type of pain??

Sorry mate, but you need another angiogram. Just because the last one was normal, doesn't mean it still is.
If you EVER gets pains like that again...call 911.
Did you get a pill to put under your tongue last time you had these pains and were seen by a doc?
It sounds to me like angina which doesn't always show up on an angiogram.
Angina puts you at a very high risk of a heart attack and you have to treat is seriously.
You must go and get an ECG as soon as you have any sort of crushing pain in your chest.

My uncle thought he had heart burn and went to the doc for it and dies in the office from a massive heart attack.
I don't want to scare you or be harsh, but you need to take this seriously. I can't stress that enough.

I am sending you a PM...

Well I won't go for another angiogram because that was very very painful but a ECG or whatever you called it...... I can handle one of those. The pain is gone right now but if it comes back again tonight then I will go to ER........ I promise. It has happened twice tonight already and next time Iam going. I did get your IM's and responded. Thank you for your concern and I'll keep you updated. I guess on Monday I will contact my regular doctor again and discuss these pains again and tell him Iam still having them.

Hospitals scare me plus this is a small hospital that does not handle trauma very well and my daughter worked there for about a year in ICU which is where they send every heart patient to and they are really really terrible in that unit she says. They ship you to the next town. I can't afford to be put into a hospital cause I have 2 girls at home and bills piling up.
Sometimes we have no choice in these issues. Your health and life is more improtant than bills and money.
I'm sure you could take them to the hospital with you until you can organise someone to take care of them while you're there.
In regards to the hospital not being a very good one. When it comes to a heart attack, ANY hospital is better than NONE.

If you have absolutly no money and live on the streets, the hospital can't turn you away even if you owe them a tone of money. If you need to go to the ER, just go and worry about getting better. The bills should be the last thing on your mind.

I woke up thinking of you this mornging. I hope all is well

OMG!! You need to go to the hospital! I know angiograms are a pain, but it's better than the alternative!

When you go to the ER, they need to draw Cardiac Enzymes & TNI... these enzymes will give tons of infomation of an infarct. Also, they need to do an EKG... this will show your heart rate & rhythm & if there's any disturbance in your electroconductivity. Anywho... if there's a problem, this can show it too.

Please, please, please see a Doctor!! I know it stinks to have to go to the hospital & the possibility of another angio is weighing on your mind, but I know what can happen if you delay treatment... remember TIME IS MUSCLE!! The longer you wait, the more damage can be done to your heart muscle!!

Take care! Kim

I don't think I can add anything to what the other ladies have already said, but I am praying for you Pam. Heart disease runs in my family. Please see a doctor as soon as you can.

Alright I wrote down those tests to be done and am going to insist my doctor do them on Monday if not before. I lay awake till close to 6am this morning with those pains coming and going. This morning or rather afternoon Iam fine so far but if they happen again today or tonight Iam going to ER. No more waiting. I know my chest is very sore this afternoon. Anyways will keep you posted and if I go into ER or hospital I will have my DD Ashley get on here and let everyone know.

You're missing the point Pam
You have to go the ER even if the pains have stopped. The next pain you get may kill you within minutes. I'm sorry if I sound so drastic and pushy, but I've seen it happen too many times. You HAVE TO GO NOW! Don't wait a minute longer.

Pam

I hope you are doing okay!
I would defintley go to the ER. They wont think you are dumb or stupid.
Please go and let us know what is going on. This worries me!

Pam--- GO TO THE ER NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They will not think you are dumb or stupid...

I'm a Critical Care Nurse and I deal with cardiac patients every shift -- it's my specialty.

OK.... YOU NEED TO GO TO THE ER NOW!! Take the chest, arm and neck pains, along with the heartburn as a BLESSING trying to tell you to GET TREATMENT NOW! Some people are not so lucky...

I'm going to pm you....

PLEASE GO NOW!!
Pam I hope you have taken Kim and Genie's advice and are at the ER now. I am worried about you!

Ok guys...... THANK YOU ALL for your concern. So far today I have been feeling fine just some tenderness in my arm and chest. BUT if it comes back I WILL GO TO ER RIGHT AWAY....... I do promise.
I spoke with my neighbor earlier today about this and she got pretty angry that I didn't come down there last night. She said she even has nitro tabs if I needed them. She said that she had the same pains as I was describing so guess maybe it is my heart or maybe a blockage. But Iam taking this serious and will seek emergency treatment if it comes back before I call my doctor.
THANK YOU EVERYONE

you shouldn't be waiting for more pain

I tried, but you'll do, what you'll do, in your own time. I hope you're going to be ok.
Pam,

THIS IS A MEDICAL EMERGENCY!!!!!!!!
If ANYONE should be in the ER, IT IS YOU!!

You SHOULD NOT BE WAITING FOR MORE PAIN! You are just setting yourself up for more heart damage. Even if there isn't any pain currently, an infarction could be evolving. Some people have MI's WITHOUT pain!

Look, I know this might seem annoying, but as a fellow human and a Cardiac Care Nurse, I MUST keep on you about this! I see people every day who "thought it was NOTHING" end up being emergently cathed for blockages, requiring stents and some even go to EMERGENCY OPEN HEART SURGERY!! We have even had to transfer people with severe damage into Loyola (Chicago) for transplants - or a LVAD to keep them going until transplant.

Anyway you slice it, it's NOT a pretty scene and the patients could have been much better managed if they would have come in at the first sign of pain. Not to mention, they would have had much more heart function left. Quick treatment is the KEY! Once heart tissue is DEAD, it is DEAD!

This denial is also a Cardinal sign to me. GET SOME HELP!! If not for yourself, do it for your Children. They need their Mommy. I don't know what else to say. I have talked my head off, so has Genie. I'm unsure why you will not get help.

Good luck and God Bless, my friend.

I will be calling my doctor tomorrow morning. I really do promise and I know they will get me in right away. Iam going to aks him to do those blood test that you mentioned and I want a full EKG done. I had one last time in his office but it wasn't a full one. After I see my doctor tomorrow I will email you and let you know what he said and what the plans are.
I haven't had any pains yesterday nor so far today. But of course I slept till 5:30 pm today.
I am so worried about you hon. I know that we can talk until we are blue in the face and that you still won't go in until you feel you need too...all i can say is this

I HAD a really close family friend who felt "ill" (same symptoms as you pretty much) Christmas day she was cookign dinner and decided to have a nap......she never woke up. Her children no longer have their mother with them....all because she never listened to the warning signs......
