Headaches

I have had a headache for about a week now. I've been taking Tylenol, which helps for a few hours, then it comes back. Also, I've been getting stabbing pains on the right side of my head. The pain sometimes travels from back around my right ear up to my right eye. I've also had trouble with my right eye twitching, which I've never had happen before.
I get migraines, but what I have now is different from those.

I haven't had any numbness or visions problems.

I can't figure out if I should go see my doctor. One of my grandfather's had a cerebral aneurysm when he was in his late 30s (fortunately, he survived it). I guess I'm paranoid about things going wrong my brain.

What do you think I should do?

If your usual tricks for your migrianes won't work then I would cal your dr.....I get the migraines that sound like yours....but since yours are different than what you normally get i would call......

I also take Advil instead for my "minor" migraines.....I usually end up taking 3 of them instead adn that tends to work a heck of a lot better than Tylenol

The headache itself doesn't worry me much. I often get headaches that last for days during allergy season. The thing that worries me is the stabbing sensation I keep getting in my brain. It's hard to decide whether or not I need to see a doctor. It's not like being sick and going in and telling the doctor a list of symptoms. I feel silly going in and saying I feel like I'm getting stabbed in the head. It's hard to describe the pain, and it's hard to know when to take the pain seriously. I don't want to waste my time going in to the office if it's nothing, yet I don't want to end up waiting and being sorry later. KWIM? I guess it would be better to be on the safe side and go in for an appointment.

For migraines I usually have to lay down in a dark room with a cold washcloth on my head with absolutely no noise (not easy with three kids in the house). A lot of my family members get bad migraines too, and they have migraine medication that they take when they feel one coming on. I think I'm going ask for a prescription for myself.

You should get the migraine medication, when I was in my early 20's thru to early 30's I used to get a lot of migraines but as I got older they pretty much stopped. The medication was all that kept me going some days LOL 3 kids and a house just refuse to go away when you are lying down, in cold dark silence (well we would be if we could )

I do get the little man sitting on my head stabbing away as you described and he often has a friend inside trying to kick my eyeball out (hows that for a lovely image lol). My pysio said it is coming from my neck, so maybe yours is to?? Have you 'tweaked' your neck lately?? Sometimes the problem is right down near my shoulder blades and having DH work the knots out of the muscles brings relief. Usually a little while he is working on it and then the rest goes away over the next 30 minutes or so.

Getting it checked by a Dr is a good idea tho. Write down all of the little things and syptoms tho bc I always find myself saying "Darn I meant to mention that to the Dr" 2 days later

I used to get those a lot in high school. They were AWFUL. It came from stress and my eyes. Once I got my eyes checked and new lenses in my glasses things were fine.

But I agree with Maree, make a list and talk to your doctor. As silly as your symptoms sound to you they probably won't to your doctor!

They do make migraine medicine over the counter now. Maybe Advil makes it or Excedrin. Not sure which. Its probably not as good as what the doctor would give you but it could be helpful if you need it!

I would talk to your doctor....couldn't hurt right? And that is what he/she is there for. I hope the headaches go away.

Maree, that's a perfect description of what's going on with me! I wonder what the doctor would say if I told her that.

I don't remember pinching my neck recently, but I could have hurt it carrying Two-Ton Henry around. I got new glasses a few months ago, so I think my eyes are okay.

Thanks for the ideas everybody! I'm going to see how things are tomorrow, and if I'm still getting the stabbing, I'll call my doctor.
