Butt scratching

Thread Starter
Daniel has been scratching his butt checks for the last two nights. It has also kept him up at night. He'll go a little while and then start crying and trying to scratch. Someone told me that they thought he had worms and so last night when he went to bed I got out the flashlight. I was also told that there would be no doubt when I checked but I sat there for a good ten min. and never saw a thing.

I've heard that you need to put vaseline (petrolium jelly) all around his anus so that the worms get 'stuck' in it so you can see them. I also thought that the anus got itchy not the buttocks??

I don't think dosing them with worm medication does any harm if they don't have worms so maybe you can try that anyway.

Have you changed soap powder, soap, shampoo etc recently ?? Bought new PJ's for him or underpants?? It may be an allergy on his bottom.

Or has he ever had excma (sp) bc that can be itchy too.

Good suggestions Maree!

When we changed fabric softener last time, the first time we used it Christian got itchy in the most unusual places.

If you are worried he has worms you could try Maree's suggestion of the vaseline. It couldn't hurt to try it?
