How did your family and friends feel about your decision to breastfeed? - Page 2

Dh was totally supportive and now he can't imagine why any one wouldn't want to bf. (just an opinion) His mother was supportive of it because dh's sister nursed (and she walks on water, so if she did it it has to be good) My mom wasn't too sure about it because she never did it and my step dad was glad that I did it but he was uncomfortable when I did it. So all in all it has been great. I have been lucky and never received any negative comments yet!!

That's great, Jen. It makes all the difference in the world when you have friends and family who support you in your decision.

My SIL hated it and would tell me so, I just rolled my eyes at her The rest of my family was very supportive. DH had a friend who told me to quit because I wouldn't make enough milk and DD would be allergic, glad I didn't listen and knew better!!!! I don't like when people who are uneducated about breastfeeding tell me how to do /not do it.

I wanted to BF so much, but DS just couldn't latch on (either because he was a preemie, or because I get frustrated easily, or both), and feeding time ended up with both of us sobbing, so we switched to bottled breast milk. When we told the pediatrician, first he asked if we wanted a referral to a lactation consultant, and when I said no (it was just too frustrating), he said, "OK. The breast milk is the important part - it doesn't really matter when the container is." He was so cool.

When/if we have another, I'll try BF again. It's just so much easier, I hear.

i got a mixed reaction. Some people said they were supportive but really weren't. My MIL thinks I am weird, but since my nice SIL Minner did it, she's accustomed to it even if she turns up her nose and thinks its weird. My SIL Mary is downright nasty about it. But then again, she's nasty about everything. She is the one who gave us the grim reapers for Christmas.

My dad kept saying that she needed a bottle because she was so small, chad's mom kept saying that she was only attached to me and wanted me all the time because I bf'd her my mom really didn't say anything and dh loved it because he got to sleep all night.
