Need Advice...

Michael came home from school today acting weird...tired(more than usual), cranky, and a little feverish(he also had a hard time keeping warm??). He took a nap, woke up feeling worse, and crying. Then after a while he acted like he was feeling better. He also has 2 cold sores on his mouth(he has never had one of those before)...can I put the blistex type stuff on that? Should I keep him home from school to make sure he is okay? Arg....I don't know what to do.

Anyone?

I would say if he has a fever and is not feeling so great just keep him home. It will be easier than having to go back in and get him from school.

Yeah, could be a secondary reaction to a different infection source. if you can gt him into the doc I would. Has he had cold sores like this before???

I would definitely keep him home, at the minimum to be able to observe him closely & see if he needs to see a MD. He might just have the flu... but, it's easier to deal with if he's home.

Yep, I'm pretty sure you can put Blistex on cold sores... I think they may have something specifically for that.

Best cold sor stuff I've found is abreeva! it's friggin expensive for being over the counter.. but i've heard awesome things about it.

I hope he gets to feeling better Tara!!!

Michael had this happen to him a few weeks ago. He had a mouth sores and I took him to the pediatrician. They prescribed a mixture of Benadryl and Malox to coat his mouth for the pain.

The doctor told me it was a secondary infection (bacterial infection).

I hope your Michael feels better soon.
