My neighbor is having her 50th birthday party next week end and I need ideas as to a gift...... possibly a gag one also.......
Any bright ideas out there??

yea for a gag gift get her a pair of thongs........ or a male stripper......

My Mum and her best friend both got 50 K speed signs ( altho where you would get one of those is a mystery ) and everybody there signed them and added a wee comment. That was nice.

Yeah I really need to figure something out for her. I have no idea where I could get a sign like that........ maybe a flea market or something. We have a couple here but not sure if they even made a 50 mph speed limit sign
Can't afford a male stripper and I don't think they make thongs in her size.......she is a rather large woman.
I need lots of ideas......... even a cake idea
decorations.......... etc.

Have you been to Spencers? I've seen a lot of good gag gifts there. At least, it might help you come up with some ideas. Depending on her sense of humor you could get her a jar of wrinkle remover or something along those lines.

As for a nice gift, well, a woman of 50 probably has everything she needs and most of the things she wants too. A scented candle, some bath products or some perfume might be nice.

Well......... she is a widower, lost her husband 2 years ago and is now raising his 3 grandchildren. She strictly lives on welfare as she cannot work due to heart and kidney problems. Is trying to get her disability. She has a very good sense of humor. A wonderful person that everyone walks all over She would do anything for anybody if she could.

I'm sorry. I was assuming she was someone you worked with. She doesn't sound like a person who splurges on herself very often. She probably doesn't have many pretty things either. She'd probably really like some of those things you never buy for yourself, but would really like to have. Or something pretty for her house.

Yes she would Grace but Iam afraid her children, grown at that and their friends or her grandchildren will take it from her.

That is really sad Pam. Then you'll defiantely have to go with something that can be used up quickly like bath stuff. That is so sad that her children are so selfish, they would take their own mother's things even her bath things.

Her children are very selfish and very wild

What about a GC to dinner? Or batter yet (if her kids might take the GC) write her up a little poem or something and tell her that you are taking her out to dinner, or to have her hair done, or her nails or something along those lines. You know, something to pamper herself.

You could arrange to take her out for lunch for the day, or pay for her to get her hair done at a beauty salon.. Do domething for her that makes her feel special on her birthday.

Does she have any hobbies like houseplants, reading or favorite activities at home?

This lady pretty much sits at home all day because her car doesn't run very well and she really has no money. Her nails are short and I think she just got her hair cut at the beauty school we have here.

I think a nice lunch or dinner out would be an excellent idea, although with such considerate children you might want to take her instead of giving her a gift certificate...that was a very good suggestion.

SHELIA!!!!!!!!! What are you doing here??
Maybe if she just sits around the house all day she would like a magazine subscription. Ooh or maybe you could get her a subscription to a seniors magazine as a gag gift. Like Modern Maturity or Today's Senior.

This is a hard one for me because her life is so dull and boring. She really has no life except for when my neighbor and I visit with her.
