Sydney's 1st Birthday Plans

Okay, I asked you all for advice, and this is what we've come up with....

We've booked the conference room at the Days Inn here in town for Sunday, the 19th. For $50, we have access to the room and pool for 4 hours and there is no clean-up! (Yay for me!)

We have invited close friends and familiy, which I think all in all, is going to be about 30-35 people, kids included. And see, our living room is definitely not big enough for even half that many people. And that is just our closest friends and their families and our families.

I couldn't find a theme that I really wanted...I was looking for either Ladybugs or Clifford the Big Red Dog. So I was almost leaning towards Blues Clues, when at the Dollar Store, I found a nice butterfly theme. The colors are purple, pink, and yellow, with a bit of green and other colors. I bought a plastic table cloth for $4, 3 packages of small butterfly plates, for $2.50 each, a package of 50 purple napkins for $2.50, a package of plain, plastic utensils for $1.50 and some plain styrofoam cups for $1.50, and I think we get like 50 of those too. Oh yah and I also bought a package of 8 butterfly balloons for $3.00, 3 packages of purple, pink and yellow balloons for $1.50 each and 2 packages of streamers for 2 for $1.50. I spent $29 in total.
Is that too much?? Seriously, do you think I spent too much money on unimportant stuff?? I've never done this before, so maybe it's not necessary.

I am also going to order a cake from the grocery store. I was thinking a white cake, and they usually put a cream filling in the middle. And then I looked at all their fancy designs and didn't see one that I liked. So I thought about just white icing, with some purple, pink and yellow and maybe I'll see if they can put a butterfly on there too.

What do you all think???

I don't think you spent too much money on the party supplies!! I like the cake idea you have. Take a plate ans see if the cake decorator can match the design.

We usually have around 30 - 40 people at each childs party, so I understand why you do not have it at home!

I don't think you spent too much. We did the same. I can't remember what we spent, but it was more than that. I love the butterfly idea, that sounds perfect. Make sure to put pics on, it sounds like it will be fun. to the no clean up and I would make sure to do somewhere other than home!
